| Woodland Park UMC is now in it's seceond 100 years of service to God. Many members, pastors, and staff have worshiped and served God over the years at Woodland Park UMC. The quality our church has always seemed to have is it's friendly, welcoming nature. Sometime between 1919 and 1924, under the leadership of Reverend Raymond Rees, the flyer / card below was probably used to spread word of our church's presence in the community. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

The foresight of the early members of our church proved to be true. By opening our doors and welcoming all who entered, with a smile, our church community grew. The truth of that cute poem is caught in our former Pastor's, Karen Dammann, statement in our church directory:
"When people visit our church on Sunday mornings, they invariably say the same thing to me as they leave. They always tell me that the people of this congregation are so friendly and warm." |

| Today, our place of worship has changed, but we are still the same friendly, welcoming congregation whose doors are always open to any who wish to enter. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

Senior Pastor - Katie Ladd (206) 784-6969 wpumcpastor@qwest.net I am a transplanted Southerner, having grown up in the Mississippi delta in Mississippi and in Arkansas. After a rather typical mainstream-protestant-small town childhood and teen years, I headed off for college on the east coast. after four years there, I moved to Houston, Texas and worked as a chemist before realizing that my soul was not being fed analyzing the ooze left over from oil companies. so…I packed up the car and moved to Nashville, Tennesse for graduate school (divinity school). That experience transformed my life and filled me with questions and a yearning for justice and compassion that I hope never go away. Eventually, all roads led to Seattle, Washington, where I’ve been since 1996 well, vacations and such… neither completely Gen X nor Millenial (and certainly not a Boomer), I find myself drawn to faith communities that embody all ages and shapes, colors and types faith communities that find strength and depth in diversity. I was ordained deacon in the pacific northwest conference of the united methodist church in 1997 and then elder in 1999. Currently I am a member of the PNWUMC's Board of Discipleship, founding member of PNW RMN, Phinney Ridge ecumenical ministry group, member of the Religious Coalition for Equality (http://www.religiouscoalition-wa.org/) I am also a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, member of the American Academy of Religion. and af ormer member of Partnership for Youth, the PNW's AIDS Task Force, Task Force on Children and Poverty, and Board of Global Ministries.
