Great Expectations - Woo Baby Shower
As many of you know, Ginny and Andy Woo are expecting a baby girl! Sometime in June . They will be traveling to China to pick up their long-awaited daughter. On April 24th at 2:00 P.M. we will "shower" Andy and Ginny with our prayers, best wishes and gifts to help them be ready for this wonderful addition to their family (and our church family). They expect their daughter to be around a year old, so think toddler when you shop. Ginny and Andy will be registered at Target and Babies ‘R Us if you want some suggestions. Questions? Call Anne (329-3749) or Janine (938-4292).
Spring Is Here
As Springtime officially comes to us, our gardens along 78th and Greenwood show signs of new life. But for this to happen it takes time and care. Please thanks Suzette Birrell for planting bulbs donated by Susan Senft. You can see them fresh and green along Greenwood. Also, an anonymous "garden elf or elves" have done a beautiful job of weeding the garden along Greenwood. Consider this an open invitation, if you have a few minutes or hours, to stop by and pull chickweed and other foreigners from the gardens on 78th.
Church Council of Greater Seattle
Arthur and Peggy Campbell, as the delegates from this church, attended the Annual meeting of Church Council of Greater Seattle on March 8, 2005. It was held at University Christian Church. The meal was prepared by the AME members—delicious! New board members were introduced and elected. Sandy Brown, the Executive Director, helped honor Carl Brunson, who has served the Emergency Feeding program for 18 years in distribution. Unfortunately, this program had to be shut down due to lack of funds. We are encouraged to give to our neighborhood food pantries. The Church Council of Greater Seattle is stressing involvement in Peace with Justice issues.

Caring for One Another
As many of you know, Sheila Sieb has returned home after liver transplant surgery. While she no longer needs folks from the church to drop by weekly to clean her home, we can continue to support her and her family in two very practical ways. First, Sheila would very much appreciate a ride to her doctor's office twice a week. If you think that you might be able to help with a ride, please call Sheila and she can tell you the days and times. Please keep in mind that it would be difficult for her to get into SUVs and trucks. Second, in order to give Sheila's mom a little respite, healthy folks from the church are invited to schedule an hour a week to spend with Sheila. This way her mom can run errands, go for coffee, or just take a walk. If you think that you may be able to help, please call Sheila at 206-706-5338.
April Showers Scheduled -
Wedding Blessings
Shawn and Selina will be married in our church on April 10th. To celebrate this wonderful occasion and start them off with our love and support, we will be "showering" Selina on Saturday, April 2, 1:00-3:00, in the Fellowship Hall. This will be a traditional, girly event - for a self-avowed simple girl. Please join in the fun by bringing your best wishes and good advice for the bride. (They will be registered at Target, if you want a hint.) Questions? Call Candy (533-8999) or Anne (329-3749).

Making Memories in May
This May you will have an opportunity to create some memories with another member of WPUMC. The Fellowship Committee is sponsoring a partnering of church family individuals and a chance to interact on a one-to-one basis. The Memory Making will begin on May 1 when the partners will be announced and continue for the month of May. Then we will celebrate our new memories on May 29. Maybe you and your Memory Partners will choose to have a meal together, go to a movie, talk on the phone, walk around Green Lake or create a piece of art together.

If you would like to participate as a Memory Partner, please complete the brief questionnaire below and return it to the church by the week of April 17. Memory Partners will be announced at church on May 1.

Volunteer Drivers Needed
Here is a way to be in mission locally!

Senior Services is seeking reliable, caring individuals to drive and escort seniors in our community to medical appointments. We do not have enough volunteers to help all of the seniors who call us for rides. We offer flexible hours, supplemental insurance, and mileage and parking reimbursement.

Volunteers use their own vehicles and do no lifting or bearing of weight.

Call 206-448-5740 or apply online at www.seniorservices.org

Thank You from Winn Mallison
“It’s great to be home again and I want to thank my church friends for the prayers, cards, phone calls, and kindnesses during my recent hip replacement surgery.

I’ll be glad when I can get out and about again and see my friends in church again.

It helps so much knowing that others care.

Love to all,
