Missions Communion Offering Report |
| IT’S A GIRL!
They are all girls at Jamaa Letu, the orphanage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that our Pacific Northwest Conference built, and our April communion offering will go toward sponsoring an orphan for one year. $396 is all it costs to feed, clothe and educate a little girl who has lost her parents to war or AIDS. Please give what you can, however much or little, to support another child of God whose resources are so few
In March we collected $95 for the First Avenue Service Center.

AIDS Care Team Needs You |
What is an AIDS CareTeam?
- Each CareTeam is made up of 7 to 14 volunteers. A CareTeam may come from one or two congregations, a college, or other group. A team may be interfaith; some teams include individuals with no religious affiliation.
- CareTeam volunteers range in age from 16 to 85. Teams include professionals, students, retirees and others with diverse life experiences. Current volunteers represent 22 different faith perspectives.
- Working with a team, each volunteer can make a difference even though her/his individual time commitment may be limited.
- CareTeam members first attend a one-day volunteer training, then meet as a team for coaching on team formation and service guidelines. CareTeam members often report that serving people with AIDS and working with other team members brings them personal satisfaction, blessings and rewards. CareTeams do not preach. By their nonjudgmental, compassionate presence, CareTeams represent a loving God to persons who often feel that they are somehow being “punished by God.” Through their caring attitudes, team members encourage empowerment, acceptance and hope.
For more information about this program, go to CareTeams@multifaith.org. This opportunity is sponsored by the Missions Committee and you may contact any Missions Committee member, or chair Carol Waymack (634-2444) for more information or to volunteer.

Reports from the Finance Committee |
At the close of our annual pledge drive, we found our 2005 budget was undersubscribed by $1,790. The Finance Committee, Pastor Katie and other committees worked together and made cut-backs on some expenses where we could without eliminating money for fixed costs or vital programs.
We then scheduled two Sunday morning mailings at which we asked for input from the congregation as we sought to define our church’s vision and mission for the ministry for 2005, as well as how we might increase budget income. We received some very worthwhile comments and suggestions which the Finance committee will be working to implement in the coming months.
One suggestion we elected to act upon immediately was to ask members of the congregation if they would be willing to support a 13th month of giving for 2005that is an extra gift equal (but not limited to) the amount of one current monthly pledge. This gift may be paid in a lump sum or over a period of several months. Persons with an email address have already been contacted and the response has been very positive. Pledges to date total $13,866.
Since not all of you have an email address and since some of you were not able to attend the February meetings, we are asking you to earnestly and prayerfully consider and respond to our request for a 13th month contribution. Please respond in writing or by calling Dorothy Trenor at 206-782-7302.
